Spinal Rehabilitation

Spinal rehabilitation refers to problems with your neck or back. Because of the unique structures of the spine and special problems related to this area, specialized training is necessary to ensure appropriate intervention. The majority of spinal problems is mechanical and relate to specific activities, postures, and habits of the patient’s lifestyle. A thorough evaluation will be performed to identify pattern movements, positions, and activities that aggravate the condition as well as those that will decrease the symptoms.

The physical therapists at Family Physical Therapy have advanced training in examining the stability of the structures of the spine (joints, discs, ligaments, etc.), evaluating the strength and flexibility of the associated muscles and joints, and observing posture and movement patterns. The goal of this evaluation is to determine which spinal structure is currently involved, and more importantly to identify and treat the cause.
